From February 2022 updated Fire regulations require interlinked fire detection
systems to be fitted in all Scottish Homes.

By February 2022 all homes in Scotland should have:

  • Smoke alarms in every circulation space on each story, such as hallways
    and landings.
  • Smoke alarms in the room most frequently used for general daytime
    living purposes.
  • Heat alarms in every kitchen.
  • All smoke and heat alarms should be interlinked.
  • Carbon monoxide alarms to be fitted where there is a fuel burning
    appliance.
  • Alarm controller *  Although the alarm controller is not a
requirement. We highly recommend this item as it allows you to control, test and silence all the alarms in a system from one place e.g. an accessible location.
